During the event, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Child Online Protection Guidelines were presented, along with a snapshot of a newly launched report from UNICEF on Girls’ Digital Literacy in the East Asia and Pacific Region.
The event also featured interactive networking sessions involving ICT female leaders and girl representatives who shared inspiring messages about how broadcasting and digital technologies can expand coverage in Asia and the Pacific.
On 21 May 2023, Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) co-organized the #GirlsinICT Day Indonesia and Asia and the Pacific in collaboration with Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI), the Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia (MCI Indonesia), and the Australian Government represented by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA), and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as part of the Masterclass at the 18th Asian Media Summit 2023. 36 girls and young women from Bali, Indonesia participated in this celebration as well as other international participants of the Asian Media Summit 2023.
