The Department of ICT of the Republic of the Philippines, in collaboration with ITU, co-organized the ✨Girls in ICT Day Philippines 2023 ✨. It took place on 8 June 2023 in Manila, Philippines. Approximately 150 girls and young women from across the country participated in this hybrid event, which served as a launchpad for various activities, including a digital skills training program. 👧🏻 👩🏻 👩🏻🦱 👩💻. Several members from government, industry, media and associations, and students from colleges actively took part in the event.
The event featured 👉 interactive panel discussions among female leaders in the ICT industry, government and girl representatives. They shared inspiring stories about entrepreneurship, shattering the glass ceiling for Girls in ICTs and best practices. The DICT team shared about initiatives in different parts of the country making the program highly inclusive. One of the highlights this year was the presentation on AI and Gender, a session dedicated to showcasing how girls can thrive in the era of AI. ITU introduced this session, and it saw active participation from the girls’ representatives. The event received support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Australian Government.
