The ITU launched Pacific Girls in ICT Day 2025 under the theme “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation,” bringing together participants from across the Pacific on 16 July 2025.
The event featured powerful remarks from ITU, the UN Resident Coordinator, and representatives from Australia, Samoa, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tonga, and Papua New Guinea.
Youth speakers and panelists shared inspiring insights on digital inclusion, alongside key stakeholders from UN Volunteers, APNIC, 3Link Vanuatu, Pacific Telecommunications Council, University of the South Pacific, and AI Brain Lab of the Asian Institute of Technology.
For the first time, several Digital Hubs from the Smart Islands Programme were virtually connected, with active participation from Jabwor, Jaluit, Tonoas, Tamana, Nauru, Maprik, South Malekula, and Hunga.
With over 120 participants, including 82 students (71 girls and 11 boys) and their teachers from the Digital Hubs, the event showcased the power of regional knowledge exchange, youth empowerment, and digital capacity-building—reinforcing the Pacific’s shared commitment to inclusive digital transformation.
Sincere thanks to all the distinguished speakers, dedicated panelists, and the inspiring students and teachers from our Digital Hubs across the Pacific for making this celebration truly special.
