Empowering the next Generation in Cambodia
The Youth Digital Empowerment Workshop and Girls in ICT Day Cambodia 2025 was held on 21 July in Siem Reap, as a pre-Summit event to the 20th Asia Media Summit, organized by the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Cambodia (MPTC), with support from Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The event was attended by the Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of ITU, Secretary General/CEO of AIBD, the Minister for Information, and Secretary of State of MPTC.
Discussions focused on youth voices in digital transformation, innovations in digital learning, and the power of connectivity moderated by the four Generation Connect-Asia and the Pacific Youth Envoys from Cambodia with contributions from resource partners including the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Education Broadcasting Commission (EBC), the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), CISCO, and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
With participation of over 160 students, teachers, and lecturers, the event underscored the importance of digital skills development and a strong commitment to gender equality, reflected by 50% female participation.
