Overview
Universal Acceptance (UA) ensures that all domain names and email addresses can be used by all Internet-enabled applications, devices, and systems. It is essential for the continued expansion of the Internet and fostering global digital inclusivity.
This virtual/ hybrid workshop will be a follow up from 2024’s virtual workshop on “Enabling Multilingualism Online for Digital Inclusion – Internationalised Domain Names (IDN) and their Universal Acceptance (UA)”, this 2025 edition of the workshop will focus on how universities and ICANN can work together to implement the UA Curriculum, published by ICANN, which consists of 12 modules covering the important topics of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), Email Address Internationalization (EAI), and Universal Acceptance (UA).
A strong understanding of UA is an increasingly significant and differentiating skill set for software developers. Developers who can create online systems that support Universal Acceptance, or can help entities become UA-ready, help to ensure their skills and work are future-proofed while contributing to a multilingual Internet.
